We are currently testing out a really cool service called Hab.la. Hab.la allows you to chat with your website visitors while they browse, using your mobile device or favorite instant messenger service. It’s super easy to get started. All you have to do is copy and paste a little bit of code and connect to a chat service like iChat, Pidgin, Google Talk and more. Then you’ll be able to monitor and interact with visitors on your website just like they were buddies on your buddy list!
This is a great service because it engages your website visitors, gives your website a more personal feeling and allows your visitors to ask the questions they are really looking for allowing them to get down to the information they are seeking rather than leaving your site. Hab.la can also help you to generate leads by building instant relationships with your website visitors through live help and sales support. All this can help you quickly convert your website visitors to customers!
So how does it work? When a visitor comes to your website, the Hab.la chat box is minimized in the lower right corner of the browser. If you’re signed in to your instant messenger service of choice, the box will read “click to chat.” and if you are not signed in, the box will say “not available”.
The current Beta version of Hab.la is free and only supports one user. They hope to offer multi-operator support in the next few months.
