We came up with the genius idea to turn our monthly newsletter into a video newsletter! It may seem like the obvious thing to do, since we produce videos and all, but we think it’s genius!

If we’ve learned anything in this business, it’s that most people would rather watch a video than read a big long email. If you’re not one of those people chances are you aren’t reading this, but nonetheless, I’ve provided a written summary down below…

Because it’s our first video newsletter, we thought we’d focus the content on just that – how to use video to improve your email marketing campaigns.

We talk about Wistia and the incredible video tracking tools it offers. The first great feature we cover is Wistia’s integration with MailChimp. They make it easy to embed video in your Mailchimp marketing campaign and track the stats that come from your newsletter subscribers. We use Mailchimp, so this was great news for us.

So Mailchimp will continue to share great stats with us, like how many people opened our email, unsubscribed, clicked on links etc. and  Wistia will use their heatmaps to tell us who watched our video, how long they watched it for, what parts they watched the most, and even grade our leads so we know who to focus our attention on first.

You don’t have to direct your newsletter traffic to Wistia either – you can set a Wistia player up on a landing page, your website, in a blog post or wherever you like. Wistia can just be the place you go to view your stats…

Aside from being able to use these two great web-based services, you’ll be using the power of simple video to engage your audience and make it easier for them to remember your message.
