So you’ve taken the plunge and gotten your video production company to produce a killer animated video that quickly explains what your business does. So now what? It’s in the perfect format for sharing on video sites, but what if you want to take it on the road to give a presentation? Or show it to someone on your Blackberry or iPhone when you’re standing in line at the movies?
Before your video production company signs off on the job, make sure you’re going to be able to use the animated video in different settings. Here are some points to keep in mind:
High-resolution (e.g., Quicktime) – A high-resolution file is perfect for showing your animated video on a larger screen, whether you’re on stage giving a presentation, or manning a booth at a trade show.
Low-resolution (e.g., MP4 or FLV) – Smaller files are ideal for the on the web, and are ideal for your landing page. They also travel nicely on your smartphone, whether you’re networking on the fly or giving a sales presentation to a prospective client. An animated video demonstration makes a very powerful – and memorable – impression on your audience. After all, people remember 58% more information when they’ve seen it on video, versus reading it or just hearing someone talk about it.
YouTube – You’ll use one of the low-resolution file formats for YouTube, but there are other steps that will optimize your video for maximum results. For example, by using the script of your video as closed-captioning text, any keywords in your video will be indexed by the search engines.
