The NetConneXion video is a perfect example of an explainer video meeting its goal. The character design and color scheme are fun, but it’s a successful explainer video because it focusses on the message at hand.
The voiceover and visuals work great together, feeding into dual coding theory. Dual coding theory refers to the simultaneous activation of the visual processing area and the verbal processing areas of the brain. This results in two memory traces being created in the brain, helping the viewer to retain and understand what is being presented to them.
Of course, everyone’s brain operates differently, some people are more visual while others are better auditory learners. Putting dual-coding into practice allows you to effectively cater to each viewer.
